He stayed for nearly fifteen years in the study of hadith, during which he met a large number of sheikhs, and collected more than three hundred thousand hadiths.
Scholars of his time and those after them commended him, and acknowledged his Imamate, progress and mastery in the science of hadith.
He took the hadith from Ahmad bin Hanbal, Ishaq bin Rahwayh, Abu Zara’a Al-Razi and others, and was a student of Imam Muhammad bin Ismail Al-Bukhari.
